The notion of donating to a social organization is that it will help people to reach their goals. Be it to UNICEF, Save the Children or Islamic Relief. But the notion of donating to a cause such as Gilgit Baltistan’s Goodwill Movement is that disabled people from their own community help their own. This might sound like a tongue-twister, but it is true. We, the privileged members of the community, have to help our brothers and sisters. TV Adverts show people that a particular individual is poor and must receive aid and donate X to save X’s life. While we are not ‘ saving lives, ‘ so to speak, improving the conditions of a deprived and marginalized community is just as important.
Though poverty is extreme in the Disabled Community of Gilgit Baltistan, GBGM helps these individuals to strive for their best. Let’s reflect on what one of our sisters said in the Ramadan Ad video. I have learned much from GBGM in Excel, Word, and Powerpoint Skills. Though our sister is in the early stages of her skills development courses, in the future, she will hopefully become a breadwinner and provide income for her family as well as herself. Though there is extreme poverty, if such incentives are properly funded, then there might not be high levels of poverty, which is why we are asking YOU, the donor, to donate to our cause. Even small contributions go a long way to achieving our target.
Join us in our mission. Donate to Gilgit Baltistan’s Goodwill Movement TODAY.
Thank you
