Any social organization should have a long and short-term plan. Without it, one can not think ahead. Ramadan is a time when Muslims fast from sunrise to sunset. It is also a time when we heed our attention to the most important pillars – Namaz, Salat, Zakat, Sawm, and Hajj at the end. However, for social organizations, Zakat provides an opportunity for a charity-based organization to help victims or those affected. For large social organizations such as Islamic Relief, PennyAppeal, MuslimCharity, Wateraid, or even the Edhi Foundation, finding donors who trust them is not a challenge, mainly because they have worked to alleviate poverty, skills development, and so on for the last 20 to 30 years, however, when you analyze the disablity cause, donors seem to be less attracted and rightly so. Before I started this organization, I used to be an ordinary donor. I was saving up $5 every month to send a minimum contribution. However, over time I realized that we need long and sustained change, which is what we are doing at Goodwill Movement – trying to achieve a sustainable environment where persons with disablities can thrive from the KG level to employment. Donors often ask me, ok so you have this plan; how will you implement it? Unfortunately, the results are slow so far. I sympathize with them, but we have taken this step to help disabled people in the long run. However, the world is a different place now than it was two decades ago. There is less willingness to cooperate at the individual, state, and international levels. Vaccine herding during the COVID-19 pandemic is an acute example. However, that does not mean we are not taking steps to ensure we will meet our targets this year. With your support in achieving these 5,000 dollars, we will prioritize these funds to expand the organization’s programs and services, reaching more people with disabilities in the region. There are many ways to get involved in the campaign, from donating to volunteering your time and skills.
Thank you.
