In these last days of Ramadan, let us reflect on what is the SOCIAL MODEL Versus the Goodwill Model. I will try to loosely translate Urdu thoughts that are open for debate and what donors feel, as I have mentioned that I have been a donor myself before starting GBGM. First I would like to thank those wellwishers and donors who have taken the time out of their lives to donate – Those who still want to contribute can donate via the RAMADAN 2023 tab. Secondly, I would like to address some questions I had as a Donor and an NGO head.
The first concern for all visitors is that this particular cause must have some level of government support. It would not be wrong to think along these lines as some of us would live abroad and we might ignore the ground realities. However, the truth is the opposite. In Gilgit Baltistan, let alone a technical center for Persons With Disablities provided by NGOs, the government has special education centers in just Regional/Divisional Capitals. The second concern is where the money would be spent on. As Farhan said this morning, after Eid, we will all use your donations to prioritize: Our skills development Centre and Food Assistance for the Disabled and Organising Awareness Sessions.
Donors would say, if I donate £5 or $5 today, what difference would that make in the long run. It does. It does. 𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 £5 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝑮𝑩𝑮𝑴 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒊𝒗𝒆 1800 𝑷𝑲𝑹.
𝑭𝒐𝒓 𝒆𝒗𝒆𝒓𝒚 5 𝒅𝒐𝒍𝒍𝒂𝒓𝒔 𝒚𝒐𝒖 𝒅𝒐𝒏𝒂𝒕𝒆, 𝑮𝑩𝑮𝑴 𝒘𝒊𝒍𝒍 𝒓𝒆𝒄𝒆𝒊𝒗𝒆 1500 𝑷𝑲𝑹. We as an organization recognise that donors do not have enough cash on their hands at the moment: saying that small goals will reach our target. Another thing that should be addressed is that if donors want to contact us or have a face to face meeting, then by all means welcome.
Our phone lines and email addresses could be found on our website and our individual profiles.
We as a society should make all disabled people independent rather than hand to mouth.
