The movement was started as a social media forum in 2019 by its founder Ghulam Muhammad Baig, as a result of Ghulam’s ambition to campaign for the disabled or differently-abled community of Gilgit Baltistan via social media. But when he and his team learned that the disabled community in Gilgit Baltistan was, and still is, in a dire crisis with no provision being offered by the provincial government, they wanted to do so much more for the disabled or differently abled community of Gilgit Baltistan. This would allow the GBGM team to serve the disabled or differently-abled community of Gilgit Baltistan in a more credible way. GBGM will allow them to act as trusted individuals and to carry out activities as any other voluntary organisation does in Gilgit Baltistan. Additionally, in developed countries, they can apply for grant funding and raise the voice of the disabled or differently abled community of Gilgit Baltistan at an international level while aiming to remain primarily active at the regional and national level.
